Web 1.0, our past, Web 2.0, now and the future

Week two came and went as did week 3! I am a little behind on my blog, but not so behind on my assignments! The focus on this blog is to talk about the differences between Web 1.0 and Web 2.0. Web 1.0 a thing of the past at this point, is the traditional version of the internet in which people run a website, and it is their responsibility to make sure information is accurate and up to date. It is "one sided". Any person can create a website and the sense of "liability" so to speak isn't present. Bookmarking through Web 1.0 allows a user to simply "hold a spot" for certain pages in order to easily find them. Web 1.0 socialization is best characterized through email. It allows for electronic transfer, but doesn't guarantee instant response, unlike 2.0 tools like instant messaging.

Web 2.0 is a whole new world when it comes to the internet. Web 2.0 changes how users can research and socialize. Web 2.0 is the web in which people can interact with the internet rather than simply use it. Blogging is a prime example. Blogging is a great way for people to share their lives' with others and allow for the readers to comment. Web 2.0 allows for instant response. Socialization changes through the use of Web 2.0. People are more liable for the things they post. Websites allow users to edit information. Web 2.0 is a great tool for the students of the 21st century.
